Plague Time
When I saw what we had to do last week for this assignment I was pretty sick and was having a hard time keeping track of time or space. Which led to me filming myself in bed just sleeping at different stages of the day. I boiled that footage down to one minute hopefully capturing the essence of being sick and in delirium with the time. I chose this quote from McLuhan because without reading the book I had decided to make this project about being sick because it was the most recent event that had happened in my life so in a way it felt like McLuhan was right. To me, this time was completely nonlinear, and all over the place which can be perceived differently by different people. Like my roommate who might have experienced the time in a more streamlined or linear way. I boosted the sound of the heater in my room as well because it was how I experienced the moments since my bed was sitting right next to it. I personally didn't control the lights in the room because they were my roommates but the two different moments represent moments when I would wake up periodically and the space would just be different even on the same night. Overall, I hoped to capture the time-distorting experience of being sick while also reflecting on the McLuhan quote about how we react/respond to the recent past.
