When I was in high school I would collect plastic, mostly trash, to create sculptures that inevitably my mom would recycle because she didn't know what they were or what they were for. I bring this up because I made them with the environment and pollution mainly how much pollution/littering I saw in the city of Chicago in mind. Rebecca Carlton's work reminds me of that era of my work with her focus on looking into the environment but portraying that with ceramics and sculptures. I especially find the birds piece very interesting with the number of the birds holding significance. I also find that the pieces are very approachable and interesting. I am interested to see if she will make a piece focusing on the alarming record-breaking temperatures and the impact that will have on the environment. Also seeing more humanity in the pieces considering humanity causes the issues the birds or other animals are going through. I also would love to take a trip to Door County and see her studio because I am interested in her work.

  I started by looking at different small spaces which led me to take pictures in a drawer filled with these little animal figurines and a lighter so I thought first what if I put the lighter in the fireplace and take a photo.  Then I started taking photos of the little animal figurines looking at how their small sizes looked in different spaces around the house. I was going to take them on an adventure but didn't go out this weekend.  I started in the library with an up-close photo and then a zoomed-out photo highlighting the small size of the figurines.                                                                                                                       then on the piano ... a chair...  a clock... then I randomly looked at the objects currently in the Harry Potter door and I found out the space was a bit bigger than I thought with a shelf inside the space.  Then I went back to placing the figurines around especially in smaller spaces . Project Proposal

  For the final project, I came up with a few project ideas because I struggled with making one single definitive decision. I have them in order of how much I want to do them. Cyanotype Project- My top choice is creating large-scale cyanotypes with other prints that supplement the cyanotypes. I plan to experiment with the subject matter a bit. I also wanted to do the project in an environment where I could play with the lighting and also utilize sound to create a sensory environment. Also, most of the art I do is fairly small in size so this will allow me to create some larger pieces.                           Harry Potter Door- The second option that I am also interested in is filling the space under the stairs with a bunch of photos. Possibly of the house or people or anything. I also would like to involve sound and light in this project as well. 10 RANDOM SPACES

  When approaching this project I had a hard time figuring out how I wanted to look at space. I thought about lying on the floor and taking pictures under my desk, or climbing somewhere up high and taking a picture down. But then I decided to just take a photo walk and just take pictures of what I saw. Most of the pictures were either in Colman or at my job because it was way too cold for me to walk around campus looking for shots I barely left my room admittedly. As I was walking through City Park with all the snow it felt like a blank canvas with all of the white same with some of the cabinets I saw. Plus I was playing with the .5x on my iPhone just zooming out in a perspective I rarely shoot in because it’s allowing me to look at spaces in a different POV. Plus looking at my dorm as a space that I decorated but have room to continue to add to.
