Project Mock Up

For my final installation project, I've finally finalized it down to one project instead of the initial 3 I had when I first proposed the projects. I settled on the larger-scale cyanotype prints that I want instead of just mounting them on a wall I want them to hang like sheets hanging outside to dry. With the addition of blue lights possibly using gels and a couple fans to have the prints lightly billowing in the wind. I also settled roughly on the subject matter of the prints. I decided to continue a project I started last year looking at emotion and how many of us put on a mask that hides our true feelings. Plus I wanted to through some landscapes possibly on the walls of whatever space I might be in. Below are some test prints that I did this weekend including shots I did last spring and some feathers I found outside.

    I really like your drawing illustration, that looks like a poster. I think it maybe great to hang these cyanotype prints outdoor, or maybe not only on paper, it maybe on some soft material, which will flow when winds blow.

  I started by looking at different small spaces which led me to take pictures in a drawer filled with these little animal figurines and a lighter so I thought first what if I put the lighter in the fireplace and take a photo.  Then I started taking photos of the little animal figurines looking at how their small sizes looked in different spaces around the house.   When approaching this project I had a hard time figuring out how I wanted to look at space. I thought about lying on the floor and taking pictures under my desk, or climbing somewhere up high and taking a picture down. But then I decided to just take a photo walk and just take pictures of what I saw. Most of the pictures were either in Colman or at my job because it was way too cold for me to walk around campus looking for shots I barely left my room admittedly. As I was walking through City Park with all the snow it felt like a blank canvas with all of the white same with some of the cabinets I saw. Plus I was playing with the .5x on my iPhone just zooming out in a perspective I rarely shoot in because it’s allowing me to look at spaces in a different POV. Plus looking at my dorm as a space that I decorated but have room to continue to add to. Project Proposal

  For the final project, I came up with a few project ideas because I struggled with making one single definitive decision. I have them in order of how much I want to do them. Cyanotype Project- My top choice is creating large-scale cyanotypes with other prints that supplement the cyanotypes. I plan to experiment with the subject matter a bit. I also wanted to do the project in an environment where I could play with the lighting and also utilize sound to create a sensory environment. Also, most of the art I do is fairly small in size so this will allow me to create some larger pieces.                           Harry Potter Door- The second option that I am also interested in is filling the space under the stairs with a bunch of photos. Possibly of the house or people or anything. I also would like to involve sound and light in this project as well.
